The group is called the Shelby County Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), but make no mistake, there’s nothing speculative or untried about these airplanes.

The group is full of pilots who want to share their love of flying with others. They host regular events, like Young Eagles Day, which allows children and teenagers a chance to fly in a plane.

“We just want to share our passion for flying and to promote aviation and for future pilots. There’s a shortage of pilots right now,” Johnny Ward, Shelby County EAA president, said. “We’re hoping to change that by creating a love of aviation in young people and giving those who are interested a chance they might not otherwise get. Not everybody has access to a plane and that’s where we come in.”
