Lane closures scheduled for I-65, U.S. 31

The Alabama Department of Transportation will close portions of Interstate 65 and U.S. 31 this week, as it completes nighttime road work on the pair of highways.

Beginning at 9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, crews will begin closing the left two northbound lanes and shoulder of I-65 between the Valleydale Road Exit 247 and Interstate 459 to complete bridge repairs.

The two lanes of I-65 will reopen to traffic by 5 a.m.

The I-65 lane closures will continue during the same times each night through the night of Thursday, Oct. 3.

ALDOT also will continue to close portions of U.S. 31 in Calera and Alabaster throughout the week as crews continue to repave the road.

Beginning at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, crews began closing portions of U.S. 31 between Interstate 65 exit 231 in Calera and exit 238 in Alabaster. All lanes were reopened by 6 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 30.

Portions of U.S. 31 will be closed during the same times each night through the night of Thursday, Oct. 3, according to an ALDOT road advisory issued on Sept. 30.
