Shelby County came out of the gates on a mission and were on the verge of jumping out to a quick 14-0 lead until the lights went out with the Wildcats on Ramsay’s 5-yard line.  After a 30-minute delay Shelby County managed to finish the drive with a touchdown on their way to a 24-21 win.

Shelby County started their first drive at midfield and took only 1:30 to find the end zone first.  Jamarius Mayfield scored on a 25-yard touchdown run and the PAT made it 7-0.  Ramsay was forced to a three and out on their first drive of the game and Shelby County got the ball back on their own 27-yard line.

The Wildcats drove down to the 5-yard line and after the blackout delay pushed it in from the 1-yard line on Ty Proctor’s quarterback sneak going up 14-0 with 4:24 left in the first quarter.

After multiple punts by the Rams it seemed Shelby County had the game well in hand.  Ramsay received the ball with 2:35 seconds left in the second quarter and connected on a 77-yard pass that set the Rams up on Shelby County’s 5-yard line.  After a 6-yard loss on first down the Rams managed to find the end zone on an 11-yard pass, cutting the deficit to seven going into the half.

Ramsay received the ball first in the second half and took the first play from scrimmage 56 yards for the touchdown making the score 14-13 after a missed PAT.  Shelby County answered with a 12-play drive that stalled on the Rams 22-yard line.  Aldo Jones’s 39-yard field goal attempt was good giving the Wildcats a four-point lead at 17-13.

After an interception by Stephen Abrams late in the third quarter the Wildcats were set up with good field position on their own 46-yard line.  Ty Proctor took advantage and connected with Marterius McGregor for a 60-yard touchdown pass.  Jones’s PAT gave Shelby County some breathing room with a 24-13 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Ramsay was set up with good field position on their first drive of the fourth quarter after a nice punt return to Shelby County’s 20-yard line.  They then scored on a two-yard touchdown run and after a successful two point conversion the score was tight 24-21 Shelby County.

After consecutive turnovers by each team Ramsay managed to get possession of the ball with 1:51 left in the fourth.  However they were unable to put anything together and Deandre Sawyer’s interception with a little over a minute left in the game gave Shelby County their first win on the season.
