Local equestrian team wins event

The Birmingham Interscholastic Equestrian Team (BIET) traveled to Four Seasons Farm just outside Madison, Ga. Oct. 5-6 to compete in a show against 10 other IEA teams from across the Southeast.

On Oct. 5, the BIET Middle School team won the day’s event and was declared Middle School Champions.  The BIET High School team placed fifth the same day.

The BIET Middle School Champions included riders Arden McCullough, a sixth grader at Westminster School at Oak Mountain, Sadie Tauxe, an eighth grader at Mountain Brook Junior High School, Cameron Shepherd, an eighth grader at Simmons Middle School, Madelyn Foster, an eighth grader, at Simmons Middle School, Catherine Burley, an eighth grader at Chelsea Middle School, Maddie Waddell, an eighth grader at Briarwood Christian School and Zoe Kuykendall, an eighth grader at Simmons Middle School.

On Oct. 6, both the BIET High School and Middle School Team placed third out of 11 teams competing.  The next BIET show will be Nov. 2-3 at the BIET home farm of Clairmont Show Stables in Sterrett, Alabama.
