Memorial graveside service for Mrs. Julia Kiber Ward Rotenberry, 90, of Montevallo, will be Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. at the Montevallo City Cemetery. Rev. John Harris will officiate.

Mrs. Rotenberry passed away on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at Adams Health and Rehab. She was born on Dec. 16, 1922, in Tuscaloosa to James Skillman Ward and Lillian Kiber Ward. Mrs. Rotenberry graduated with highest honors from Alabama College and graduated with a master’s degree in library science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mrs. Rotenberry had a brief employment in Knoxville, Tenn., and at Auburn University. After working for 29 years as a librarian for the University of Montevallo, Mrs. Rotenberry retired in 1983. She also served as president of the Alabama Library Association from 1981-1982 and was a member of the University of Montevallo Alumni Board from 1992-1998. She was an active member of the University Baptist Church in Montevallo, the Five Points Garden Club and a Pink Lady of the Russell Medical Center. Throughout her life she was an expert in all types of needlework.

She is survived by her daughters, Janet Rotenberry Burnett (Peter) of Saint Petersburg, Fla., and Lynn Rotenberry Moran (Jack) of Alexander City; grandsons, John Harold Dark (Natalie) of Dadeville and William Ward Dark (Jill) of Alexander City; great-granddaughters, Annsley Paradice Dark, Aubrey Nicole Dark and Harlon Julia Dark; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Russell Rotenberry; her parents; sisters, Madie Ward Barrett and Evelyn Ward Blevins; and brother, Dr. Robert David Ward.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one’s favorite charity or the University Baptist Church, 440 Overland Rd., Montevallo, Al. 35115.
