For a brief moment in the Oct. 17 matchup between Briarwood Christian and Ramsay High, it looked liked the game was shaping up to be a shootout.

It was not meant to be, however, as the Lions took a comfortable 32-14 win over the host Rams.

Briarwood got on the board first when Victor Jerald took an 8-yard run in for a score. As with most of the extra points this season, the Lions eschewed the kick for one, instead opting for two on a Jerald run.

The second quarter featured most of the fireworks for the game, starting when Walker Lott scored for BCS on a 5-yard run. His pass to Andrew Schaper for two was good, and Lions led 16-0 with 8:14 left in the half.

Less than a minute later, the Rams got on the board with a Kendall Jackson pass to Alexander McGhee for 68 yards and six points. Jackson’s past for two points was no good, and the score was 14-6, BCS.

The Rams scored again when Jackson took it himself from two yards out, and McGhee’s run for the two-point conversion made the score 16-14 with 6:20 left in the first half.

Briarwood answered back when Lott hi Schaper for 67 yards and a score, with Jerald’s two-point run making the score 24-14 with 4:28 left in the second quarter.

The lone score in the second half came when Lott hit Braydon Housel for seven yards, and again for the two-point conversion.

Neither team crossed the goal line again, and BCS took the 32-14 win.

Lott finished 13-of-27 for two touchdowns and an interception. Jerald had 72 yards and a touchdown on 20 attempts, while Schaper had 142 yards on five receptions and the touchdown for Briarwood. Defensively, Jeffrey Travis led the Lions with an interception.

The win moves BCS to 6-2 on the year, and 5-1 in region play. The Lions will host John Carroll on Oct. 25.
