Services at Pelham’s Crosscreek Baptist Church will be open to all of God’s creations on Oct. 27 – regardless of whether they are green or have feathers.

The church, which is at 600 Crosscreek Trail in Pelham’s Crosscreek subdivision, will hold its annual blessing of the animals event at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27 in the church’s front lawn.

During the event, pastors will pray over everything from reptiles to rodents, cats and dogs.

“Crosscreek believes that we are stewards of all of God’s creation, which includes our furry, feathered and reptilian friends,” church secretary Pam Alford wrote in an email.

The event will be open to everyone in Pelham, and will honor pets’ loyalty to their owners, Alford said.

“Brandon Hudson is the new pastor of Crosscreek Baptist, and he is looking forward to this annual event and to blessing his Great Dane (Bella) and his mixed breed (Tucker), as well as all the other pets in our community who are so faithful to their owners,” Alford wrote. “Our pets love us unconditionally, and the church wants to honor them on this special day.”
