David Lee Henry, age 84, of Alabaster, passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013. David was born Nov. 24, 1928, in Oneonta. He retired from Sears Roebuck, downtown Birmingham after 44 years of service. He was predeceased by his wife and love of his life, Martha Falkner Henry; parents, Mancey and Essie Henry; son, David Gregory Henry; and sister, Frances Whitfield.

His survivors include his daughters, Mary Henry Harris (Phil) and Susan Henry Clark (Brian); son, Ken Henry (Mandy); brother, Lynder Henry; grandchildren, Cindy Harris Gibbs (Billy), Tommy Harris (fiancée, Samantha Melmer), Christopher Clark, Madison Clark, Craig Clark and Amee Shoemaker; great-grandchildren, Marshall Murner, Tucker Gibbs, Aubrey Gibbs, Kamyn Shoemaker and Landon McElroy; and his puppy dog and loyal companion, “Elvira.”

The family will receive friends from noon-2 p.m. on Oct. 27 at Charter Funeral Home with a funeral service following at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Nabors Cemetery, Alabaster. Brother Mike Byars will be officiating. Charter Funeral Home directed.
