CHELSEA — Professional bass angler Randy Howell will once again give away his fishing boat as part of a charity fundraiser for King’s Home later this month.

A drawing for Howell’s 21HP Triton boat valued at more than $71,000, is set Nov. 24 during the fourth annual Kampfire for the King event at the King’s Home main campus in Chelsea.  For every $100 donation, Howell will give one entry into the drawing. Entrants do not have to be present to win.

King’s Home serves abused youth, women and children seeking help from abuse, neglect, abandonment, homelessness, and other extreme and difficult conditions and circumstances. The nonprofit also provides services to help residents break the cycle of abuse, build healthy relationships and become independent, productive members of the community.

The boat drawing has raised more than $90,000 annually over the past two years. This year, King’s Home and the Howell family hope to raise $100,000. Entrants can watch the drawing live at kingshome.org Nov. 24 at 6 p.m.

In conjunction with the Kampfire for the King event, Howell will host a fishing rodeo Nov. 24 at the King’s Home main campus. The rodeo is free to all youth under the age of 19. Last year, 75 Alabama high school fishing teams helped youth reel in a catch.

“Most of these kids have experienced horrible abuse or abandonment in their young lives. This fishing day is all about fun. We get to see smiles on their faces that only a fish can bring, and that’s why we do it,” Howell said.
