The run for an AISA title is over.

An inury-plagued Coosa Valley Rebels team fell in the first round of the AISA playoffs to the Wilcox Academy Wildcats, 37-14.

Coosa Valley head coach Arlton Hudson said his team just ran up against a squad that was deeper and healthier; CVA was missing several key players due to inures sustained at the end of the regular season.

“They were a good football team,” he said. “(We’ve) gotta give them all the credit in the world.”

Hudson went on to say that while the squad was disappointed with the loss, the season was a success.

“We set a goal to get to the playoffs,” he said. “We stayed healthy (until the end of the season). It put us in a numbers situation tonight.”

Hudson was quick to point out how hard his squad worked in the offseason and in practice all season long. The players gave everything they had, Hudson said.

“I can’t compliment them enough,” he said.

The Rebels finish with a 6-5 record, and feature six players that were named to the AISA All-Star game held in Montgomery Dec. 6.
