Did you know that November is National “Adopt-A-Senior-Pet Month”? Shelby Humane has many wonderful senior pets available for adoption, and Betty Lou and Delia are two we thought we’d share with you.

Delia is a 7-year-old female retriever lab mix. This sweet girl has been waiting for her forever home since late September. Don’t let her senior status fool you, she’s as playful as a puppy. She loves toys, but can also be a great snuggler. She gets along great with other dogs and children, and passed her behavior tests with flying colors.

Betty Lou is an 8-year-old female retriever lab mix. This old soul is one of the sweetest dogs you’ll ever meet. So obedient and gentle, she’ll be by your side no matter where you are. She loves to cuddle on the couch, or outside in the sunshine. She walks well on a leash, and gets along with just about everyone and everything, dogs and children included. This sweet girl is ready for her forever home, as she’s been with us since the beginning of August.

Thanks to a grant from the Daniel Foundation of Alabama, senior citizens (ages 60 and older) approved for adoption at our shelter can now have their adoption fee waived when matched up with a senior pet or other approved pet. We are open for adoptions Tuesday through Saturday from 12-5:30p. Feel free to stop by or contact an adoption counselor at 205-669-3916, ext. 22.
