The miracle of baseball

- The Chelsea Swarm9-and-under All-Stars met Oak Mountain three times during the course of the Dizzy Dean State tournament and won all three games, including a 9-6 victory in the championship game, to capture the State title July 7 in Athens.
For millions of children, dreams of a career as a professional athlete begin on a youth baseball field. In so many ways, playing youth baseball is a rite of passage.
Children with special needs, however, often miss out on that rite because of their physical limitations. Shay Hammonds helped change that for Hoover kids.
On Sept. 29, the Over The Mountain Miracle League held the grand opening for its new Miracle Field at Hoover East Sports Park.
