FROM STAFF REPORTS

Students and staff members at Pelham’s Linda Nolen Learning Center celebrated Veterans Day on Nov. 8 by donning camouflage and saluting the nation’s heroes.

The school featured a Wall of Honor, on which names of military friends and family members who are retired, reserved, active, inactive and deceased were placed on red, white and blue stars.

Military vehicles from the Military Vehicle Preservation Association’s Dixie Division were driven by Russell Parker, Chris Storey, Steve Stevenson and Kevin Doriety, and were welcomed by LNLC students and staff members waving American flags.

The day ended with speakers from the Lakeshore foundation: Makora Nong and disabled veteran Shawn Castle.

The National Anthem and a rendition of “You Lift Me Up” also was sung by one of the school’s teachers, Matthew Holsomback.
