Multiple Alabaster railroad crossings could be closed through the next few days, the Alabaster Police Department announced on Dec. 2.

At about 7 a.m. on Dec. 2, the CSX railroad company closed the crossings on Eighth Avenue Northwest leading to the Alabaster Sewer Department, Sixth Avenue Southwest near Buck Creek Park and on 11th Avenue Southwest near the new Alabaster City Hall.

CSX was planning to close the Fulton Springs Road crossing near Old U.S. 31 beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 3.

The crossings could be closed for up to 36 hours due to construction and repair, according to CSX.

“Vehicular traffic will have to access alternate crossing routes, which are marked with detour signs,” read a Police Department press release.
