A 21-year-old Alabaster man will spend more than six years in prison after he pleaded guilty on Dec. 3 to distributing marijuana at his residence on Dilcey Daniel Drive.

During a Dec. 3 hearing before Shelby County Circuit Court Judge Dan Reeves, Keldrin Maurice Burns pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of a controlled substance.

Reeves sentenced Burns to 76 months in the Alabama Penitentiary, and gave Burns credit for the 144 days he has already served in the Shelby County Jail.

Burns was arrested by the Alabaster Police Department on Nov. 8, 2012 and charged with three counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and one count of second possession of marijuana. Court records listed a Nov. 8, 2011 offense date for the marijuana distribution charge.

Through a plea agreement, Burns’ other three charges were dismissed. After Burns’ arrest, the case was handled by the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force.
