Bernice McGarity Fausel

Bernice McGarity Fausel, 68, of Birmingham, passed Dec. 6, 2013, at home surrounded by family and friends.  She was born to the late Leroy and Jettie Belle McGarity, March 4, 1945, in Hampton, Ga. She received degrees from Reinhart College and Tift College. She also attended Georgia State University, Georgia Tech and Emory University. While living in Georgia she taught science from 1965-1999. While living in Alabama she taught science at Wilsonville Elementary (1999-2001) and Columbiana Middle School (2001-2009). She loved all life: Genesis 1:26-29; Psalm 8:6-8. Her legacy of love and compassion will be felt by many for years to come.

Bernice is survived by her children, Barbara Wilson of Birmingham and Todd Fausel of Columbia, Mo. They are eternally grateful to family and friends who participated in her care. A private celebration of life will be held at Bernice’s home for those closest to her. In lieu of flowers, she requested the planting of a ginkgo tree (or tree of your choice) at the location of your choice.
