Mrs. Irene Burnett of Brierfield passed away on Jan. 5, 2014, in Centreville.

Mrs. Burnett is survived by nine children, Barbara Wyatt, Gloria Merritt, Janice Burt (Ray), Jacqueline Brown, Jimmy Carden, Jerrell Carden (Vicki), Riley Burnett, Ronnie Burnett and Donnie Burnett (Cindy). She is also survived by her sister, Billie Lucas; brother, Buddy Martin; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Burnett was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Lilly Martin; her sister, Effie Mae Lucas; her son, Wiley Burnett; and her husbands, Onnie Delay Carden and Lanice William Burnett.

There will be a visitation for Mrs. Burnett on Jan. 10 at Rockco Funeral Home in Montevallo from 11 a.m.-noon and her funeral service at noon. Burial will follow in Ashby Cemetery in Brierfield. The services are to be officiated by Pastor Steve Johnson.

Mrs. Burnett’s pallbearers are Floyd Lucas, Jay Merritt, Wendell Thompson, Jason Burnett, Jacob Burnett and Alan Orr. The honorary pallbearers are Dr. John Waits and staff, Bibb Medical Center Nursing Home staff and Amedisys Hospice Care.
