Alabaster residents soon will start receiving a newsletter highlighting activities and news from the Alabaster School System after the city’s Board of Education approved the publication during a Jan. 15 meeting.

The 16-page newsletter will publish about three times per year, and will be mailed to all Alabaster residents, School Board President Adam Moseley said after the meeting.

Alabaster School Superintendent Dr. Wayne Vickers said the newsletter will include information about school district events, projects and other news items.

“We want to mail it to everyone, because the school district affects everyone,” Moseley said. “Even if you aren’t a parent, you are still a stakeholder in the school system.”

Moseley said the school newsletter will follow a format similar to the Alabaster Connection newsletter, which is published by the Me2Graphics company and mailed to Alabaster residents every other month. Moseley said the school newsletter likely will be published by Me2Graphics.

“One of the key things we emphasize is communication with our stakeholders,” Vickers said during the Jan. 15 meeting. “I want them to connect and see what is significant with the things going on in our schools.”

Moseley said the first newsletter will be distributed in early spring.
