A 29-year-old Foley man is serving a two-year prison sentence after he pleaded guilty last year to felony counts of sexually abusing and raping a child, according to court records.

The Alabaster Police Department arrested Kevin Nicholas Wallace on Jan. 3, 2012 and charged him with one count of first-degree rape and one count of sexual abuse of a child younger than 12.

Wallace’s charges stemmed from multiple incidents between March 2006 and January 2007, during which Alabaster Police said he molested two family members between the ages of 10 and 14.

In 2012, Alabaster Police Chief Curtis Rigney said the victims “were not (Wallace’s) blood relatives.”

Rigney said officers arrested Wallace at the Alabaster Walmart after obtaining warrants against him.

As a jury trial was pending against him in April 2013, Wallace entered guilty pleas to the two charges during an April 17 hearing in front of Circuit Court Judge Dan Reeves.

Through a plea agreement, Wallace’s first-degree rape charge was lessened to second-degree rape and his sexual abuse of a child younger than 12 charge was lessened to first-degree sexual abuse.

Wallace was sentenced to 10 years in prison per charge, but his sentence was split, and he will instead serve two years in prison followed by five years of supervised probation.

Wallace also must complete a sex offender intervention program while incarcerated, and must avoid “initiating any contact” with the victims, their families or their property.
