Each day, students across Shelby County have a chance to watch some of the best high school broadcast journalism and read some of the best student literature in the state, according to the Alabama Scholastic Press Association.

Thompson High School’s THS TV and Oak Mountain High School’s OMTV won All-Alabama awards during the Scholastic Press Association’s Feb. 14 competition in Tuscaloosa, for “demonstrating excellence in all areas.”

THS TV’s Sarah Singleterry won the Alabama Broadcaster’s Association Scholarship, which is awarded for the first time this year to the top high school broadcaster in the state.

Montevallo High School’s MHS News earned a spot in the broadcast honors category.

In the student literary magazine category, Pelham High School’s “More than Words” and OMHS’s “ES:SE” earned spots in the “superior” category. Thompson High School’s student newspaper, Tribeune,” earned a spot in the “merit” category, and OMHS’s yearbook, “Paragon,” earned a spot in the “superior” category.
