Alabaster parents tired of filling out mountains of paperwork at their children’s schools on registration night soon will have some relief, as the city’s schools will be adding an online registration option this summer.
During its Feb. 17 meeting, the Alabaster Board of Education voted unanimously to approve the program, which will allow parents to fill out registration documents and pay fees online, eliminating the need to fill out forms in person over the summer.
“As a parent, if you’ve ever been through the 9 million copies you have to sign, I think you will welcome this online registration,” Alabaster School Superintendent Dr. Wayne Vickers said during the meeting.
Schools will offer times during the summer for schedule pick-up, meet-the-teacher sessions and for parents to bring proof of residence to the schools. The schools’ computer labs also will offer times for parents to complete online registration forms during the summer.
“We are just trying to make it easier for parents,” Vickers said on Feb. 20.
