Those looking to relive some of the best music from the 1980s while supporting a group of local musicians will have a chance to do so during an upcoming event at Helena Middle School.

The HMS Music Machine Show Choir will have its final performance at a dessert Cabaret at the school on Saturday March 15.

The Music Machine will perform reworked popular songs from the ‘80s as audience members enjoy gourmet dessert and beverages. The choir will cover classics such as “Money for Nothing,” “Video Killed the Radio Star” and “Material Girl.”

As the production progresses, the choir members will change into a less formal costume for the final performance of “Footloose.”

The show will be from 6-8 p.m., and tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children ages 12 and younger. Tickets include a spectacular performance, gourmet dessert and beverage and a silent auction.

All proceeds from the Dessert Cabaret and silent auction will benefit the HMS choral department and will help purchase needed equipment and music. Jennifer Kunath-Bowling, who helped organize the event, said she expects a large crowd at this year’s event.

“We got really good response from last year’s fundraiser,” Kunath-Bowling said on Feb. 28, noting the choir performed a zombie-themed show last year. “We are expecting a good turnout this year.”

The HMS Music Machine Show Choir is made up of 48 talented singers and dancers. They practice each week and perform at various competitions throughout the state.
