Jackie Sandy was born in Columbiana on March 20, 1935, to John and Loise (Chapel) Boaz. She departed this life on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla.

She attended and graduated high school in Columbiana. While in Alabama, Jackie worked at an elastic plant. She also owned and operated a green house with her sister Margaret in Columbiana. In 1976 Jackie moved to Perry, Okla. She was employed at Ditch Witch for 13 years as an analyst. Jackie married Gayland Sandy on Dec. 18, 1977, in Oklahoma City, Okla.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Perry, Okla., and a charter member of the Nazarene Church in Columbiana. Jackie was very active in the church. She was a member of Hope Circle, the fund raising committee and chairman of the evangelism committee.

Jackie enjoyed cooking for family and the church, fishing, taking her grandkids on vacation, reading and going to the lake. She especially liked going to the casino and playing the slot machines. She loved spending time with her family. Jackie will be missed by all that loved and knew her.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m., March 3 at the First Christian Church in Perry, Okla., with Reverend Martin Foster officiating. Services were under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home in Perry, Okla. Family received friends on March 1 at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.

Jackie is survived by her husband, Gayland Sandy, of the home; two daughters, Cynthia Williams (Jay) of Perry, Okla., and Tina Hardy of Stillwater, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Marsha Epperson and Kym Payne (Mark) all of Stillwater, Okla.; one stepson, Brett Sandy (Valerie) of Perry, Okla.; one brother, John Boaz (Lorene) of Centerville; one sister, Faye Fredrick (Willard) of Columbiana; one brother-in-law, WC Green of Nashville, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Jared Allen; one brother, Bob Boaz; and two sisters, Billie Jo Green and Margaret Walden.
