HARPERSVILLE—Mt. Olive Baptist Church and the Talladega County Branch of the NAACP have teamed up to host “Managing Your Money Wisely,” a seminar on how to create good saving habits.

Alma Baylor-Carter, coordinator of the event, said that it was her daughter’s good saving habits, which prompted the idea for the seminar.

“Sometimes, we forget to tell our children to save,” Baylor-Carter said, citing saving as an important building block for the future.

Jeremy Young, a financial advisor at Jeremy Young and Associates, will cover such topics as being a good steward to yourself and the fundamentals of financial success.

“The community has responded very well with donations,” Baylor-Carter said, and refreshments will be provided courtesy of Winn Dixie, McDonald’s, KFC, Jet Pep, Subway, Jack’s and Walmart.

The event, which will take place March 22 at 3 p.m., requires only “a pen and paper,” Baylor-Carter said, and is free and open to all age groups.
