BIET advance to zone finals

The Birmingham Interscholastic Equestrian middle school team won Reserve Champion securing their place to advance to Zone Finals held April 11-13 at Savannah College of Art and Design in Hardeeville, S.C. The team features several members from Shelby County.

The Birmingham Interscholastic Equestrian middle school team won Reserve Champion to secure its place to advance to Zone Finals held April 11-13 at Savannah College of Art and Design in Hardeeville, S.C.

The Interscholastic Equestrian Association Zone 4 Region 4 Finals finished Saturday, March 15 at Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers, Ga.

Both the Birmingham Interscholastic Middle School & High School Teams competed the same day.

Riders for the middle school team featured several Shelby County students, including:

-Arden McCullough, sixth grade, Westminster School at Oak Mountain

-Catherine Burley, eighth grade, Chelsea Middle School

-Maddie Waddell, eighth grade, Briarwood Christian School

Team members Catherine Burley, Sophia Giattina, Rebekah Sims, & Bethany Sorrels also secured their place in Zone Finals with wins in Flat and Over Fences Classes as individual riders.
