Henry Ford Varden, age 90, of Montevallo, passed away March 11, 2014. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Alabama Power for 34 years. He served as Deacon Emeritus for over 30 years and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He enjoyed boat rides and collecting recipes. Most of all, he was a family man and a humble servant of God.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Varden; parents, Mary Jane and William “Tobe” Varden; sister, Dorothy Hughes and brother, Nunnelly Blackmon. He is survived by his daughter, Karen White (Travis); son, Dwayne Varden; grandchildren, Scott Doss (Belinda), Wendy Dibble (Jeff), Misty Seymore (Alex) and Meghan Crary; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Kylie Dibble, Braden and Landon Doss and Kaitlin, Emily and Christopher Michael Crary; nephews, Raymond, Johnny and Richard Hughes; and his niece, Geraldine Bice.
