WILSONVILLE—Wilsonville Mayor Lee McCarty endorsed local resident Tom Vignuelle, during a March 24 City Council meeting.
“He’d likely make a fine congressman,” McCarty said.
Vigneulle is one of seven Republican primary candidates vying for retiring U.S. Rep. Spencer Bachus’ 6th Congressional District seat.
Vigneulle owns a small business, Royal Bedding Manufacturing, Inc., as well as a farm and cattle in Wilsonville.
“I am one of you,” Vigneulle told Wilsonville residents and government officials.
Vigneulle stressed the need to support small business, and said that current laws are “crushing and strangling” many startups. Vigneulle also emphasized his lack of political experience.
“I’ve not been the one writing legislation and passing taxation. I’ve been living it,” Vigneulle said. “We’ve got to have people who say ‘enough is enough.’”
McCarty urged Wilsonville citizens to support their local candidate.
“A dedicated group voting for a favored son could make a difference in this crowded race,” McCarty told residents.
