FROM STAFF REPORTS

A Tornado Watch has been issued for most of Central Alabama, including Shelby County, until 8 a.m.

Counties included in the watch are those from Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Jefferson, St. Clair, Calhoun, and Cleburne southward, generally along and south of I-20.

A warm front remains across the southern fringes of Central Alabama, but is expected to begin lifting northward. Storms moving out of Mississippi will be near the state line around 2 a.m.

In addition, heavy rainfall will continue across the northern portion of the area and flash flooding remains a possibility. If you are on the roads tonight, slow down. Nighttime flooding is especially hard to see. Do not drive thru flooded roadways. Find an alternate route.
