PELHAM—The Pelham City Council is currently accepting applications for Place 1 on the Pelham City Board of Education. The position expires in June, one month before the July 1 separation deadline for the Pelham City School System.

When the School Board was created in 2013, the five positions were assigned consecutive roll-off dates to establish staggered terms, with the first, Place 1, expiring in June. The Pelham City Council has the option to reappoint or replace the member when each position opens.

“[City Council] is putting the application out to any Pelham residents who might be interested in serving,” Pelham City Clerk Marsha Yates said.

Although the Pelham City Council may chose to reappoint the current Place 1 member, Yates said they “always like to post jobs and get applications” because “good candidates might be a fit for another board.”
