Support the farmers’ market

Dear Editor,

Do you know where your food comes from?

Do you know if your food is GMO or Non-GMO?

What is GMO? GMO stands for genetically modified organism, and are plants and animals created through gene splicing techniques of biotechnology.

If you can not grow your own food, you do have other options.

Support your Local Farmers’ Market.

Columbiana has a local farmers market on Saturday mornings. They have vendors that need your support.

I hope in the future that the Columbiana Farmers’ Market will be able to grow and offer more vendors, demonstrations, music and become a gathering place on Saturday mornings.

The vendors offer local produce grown by local farmers from Alabama. Supporting these vendors is a great way to support the farmers and our community.

In the future, I would like to see these products at the market: Fresh eggs, demonstrations with information about using fruits and vegetables, plants, flowers, herbs, music and handmade items.

I also would like to see a website created for the Columbiana Farmers’ Market.

Our community is growing, and I feel that we can support our local Columbiana Farmers’ Market within the coming months. As a community let’s make this a great place to purchase local fruits and vegetables.

A bountiful harvest is a blessing.
