PELHAM—The Pelham Board of Education has announced an April 22 specially called meeting “for the purpose of considering the appointment of a permanent superintendent and the terms of such appointment.”

The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Pelham’s City Hall.

If the Board of Education appoints a permanent superintendent, it will be the biggest decision the board has made in the process of separating from the Shelby County School System.

Dr. Tim Alford has been serving as the interim superintendent of the Pelham City School System since Jan. 27, and his tenure is scheduled to end June 30.
