Community Education offering Summer School and adult education classes

The Shelby County Community Education Department will be offering Summer School courses in driver’s education and health this summer. Community Education will also be offering a welding course for adults this spring.

Welding will be taught at the Shelby County College and Career Center by certified instructor Lynn Miller. The classes will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6-8 p.m. April 14-May 20. The fee for the class is $280 payable to Community Education and a $100 supply fee payable to Lynn Miller. Registration forms are available at Shelbyed.k12.al.us/community/cal.html. Driver’s education will be offered June 2-20 at the Shelby County Instructional Services Center. The class will be from 7 a.m.-noon for the first week of classroom instruction, which will be taught by a certified Shelby County driver’s education teacher. Students will then be scheduled to come back over the course of the last two weeks for driving instruction with the teacher. The cost for the driver’s education course is $360. Health will be offered June 4-27. The course will be taught by a certified Shelby County health teacher from 8 a.m.-noon. Students will need 70 hours of classroom seat time in order to earn credit for the course. The cost is $175. Please call 682-5843 for registration information.
