Early dismissals and cancellations for Tuesday, April 29

The following is a list of early dismissals and cancellations due to the potential of severe weather in the area Tuesday, April 29:

SHELBY COUNTY SCHOOLS

Shelby County Schools will be dismissing at 1:00 p.m. due to the threat of severe weather later this afternoon.

ALABASTER CITY SCHOOLS

The Alabaster City School System will dismiss two hours early on Tuesday, April 29 due to the threat of severe weather.

All buses will operate on a 2 hour early schedule,” read an ACS press release. “Please make arrangements to pick up your child or ensure supervision is in place at home for the early bus drop off schedule.”

Afterschool care programs will not operate, and there will be no after school activities or athletic events.

KINGWOOD CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

KCS will dismiss early today at 1 p.m. due to the unknown threat of severe weather approaching the area. There will be no after school care, activities or practices.

INDIAN SPRINGS SCHOOL

Indian Springs School will close at 11:30 a.m. today due to the threat of severe weather. Buses will run at noon. All afternoon and evening activities are canceled.

HILLTOP MONTESSORI SCHOOL

Hilltop Montessori School in Mt Laurel will dismiss at 1 p.m. The school urges parents to make arrangements to pick up their child by 1 p.m. so staff can get home safely.

HOOVER CITY SCHOOLS

Hoover City Schools will dismiss three hours early. All school buses will run their normal routes three hours early. All after school activities, including the Extended Day Program, are canceled.

UNIVERSITY OF MONTEVALLO

The University of Montevallo will close at 1 p.m. due to the risk of severe weather. All classes and activities are also postponed, but the closing will not impact exams that are scheduled to conclude by 12:30 p.m.
