Popular alternative rock band Fuel will take the Alabaster CityFest’s main stage at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, festival organizers announced on April 30.

Fuel, which is well-known for singles such as “Shimmer,” “Bad Day,” “Falls on Me” and “Hemorrhage (In my Hands),” will perform before CityFest headliner Rodney Atkins takes the stage at 9 p.m.

Fuel recently released its first album with frontman Brett Scallions in more than a decade, “Puppet Strings,” in March. The band’s previous albums included 1998’s “Sunburn,” 2000’s “Something Like Human” and 2003’s “Natural Selection.”

Fuel is composed of vocalist Brett Scallions, Brad Stewart on bass guitar, Andy Andersson on lead guitar and backing vocals and Shannon Boone on percussion.

The Alabaster CityFest is free, and has been Shelby County’s largest festival for several years. In 2013, more than 55,000 people attended the event, and more than 70,000 have attended in past years, according to police estimates.

CityFest will be held in Alabaster’s Municipal Park on Saturday, June 7 beginning at 9 a.m.

In addition to musical performances on multiple stages throughout the day, CityFest also includes hundreds of vendors, family entertainment, a cruise-in car show and a child-friendly KidsFest area.

This year also will mark the return of the CityFest 5K Fun Run, which was held for the first time the morning of the festival last year.

Regions Bank will again serve as this year’s CityFest title sponsor.
