Shelby Show & Go, a new classic and custom car show and festival, will come to Shelby County May 30 and 31.  The only event of its kind in the area, the two-day traveling show will move between venues in Columbiana, Hoover and Alabaster.  SafeHouse of Shelby County will host the event, with proceeds benefiting its domestic and sexual violence response and prevention programs.

Shelby Show & Go will open Friday, May 30with an after-work Sock Hop featuring live music from The Thomas Henry Band in downtown Columbiana.  On the morning of Saturday, May 31, the show will move to the Alabaster Promenade for a judging portion. Then, in the afternoon, the cars will travel to the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium for a Swap Meet and Food Truck Rally.  The event will be free to spectators, and a registration fee will be required for any participating vehicles.   There is a discount for car owners whose registrations are postmarked by May 5.

“We’re looking forward to a family-friendly event that will not only serve as a great opportunity to raise funds and awareness for SafeHouse, but it will also help promote the Shelby County area.  We’re excited to partner with various municipalities within our service area to host what we hope will draw regional classic car owners to the area,” SafeHouse Executive Director Erin Melaney Bodden said.

Event organizers are currently recruiting classic car owners, vendors and corporate sponsors to participate in Shelby Show & Go.   Additional information on the event and registration forms are available at Safehouse.org.  Interested individuals may also call 205-378-2922.
