HOOVER — Spain Park High school hosted a special spring signing for seven athletes who inked scholarships to continue their careers on the collegiate level.

The athletes represented five different sports, and signed in a ceremony held in the Spain Park gymnasium following an awards ceremony April 30.

They were as follows:
– Jay Douglass, who signed a scholarship to play football with Sewanee University.

– Rome Fiore, who signed with Troy University on a track and field scholarship.

-Mickey Todd Forrest, who signed to play both football and baseball with Belhaven University.

-Austin Haight, who also signed to play both football and baseball, will attend Berry College.

-Madeline Held, who signed with the Tulane Green Wave to participate in track and field and cross county.

-Morgan Scott, who agreed to play volleyball for the University of Alabama-Huntsville Chargers.

-Connor Tinney, who signed with Mount Union to play lacrosse.

A reception followed for the athletes and their families.
