CrossFit Riverchase athletes take wins at OMSP

HOOVER — Athletes from CrossFit Riverchase in Hoover won in three divisions at the Southeast “Gut Check Challenge” and “The Suck” fitness and endurance competitions in April at Oak Mountain State Park.

Created by Guinness World Record Holder and two-time Death Race Winner, Joe Decker of Gut Check Fitness of San Diego, these competitions of strength, endurance and intestinal fortitude travel nationwide for seven regional events.

The 12-hour “The Suck” is an overnight competition consisting of intense team and individual challenges consisting of miles of trail running, carrying heavy objects, military calisthenics plus strongman lifts and more. The four-hour “Gut Check Challenge” consists of weighted bucket & sandbag carries, running, military calisthenics, strongman lifts and more.

More than 40 competitors competed in the “Gut Check Challenge” with 25 in “The Suck.” Sandy Colvin won the female division of the “Gut Check Challenge” and Douglas Henze won the male division.  Jeremiah Rogers was the winner of “The Suck. ” Colvin, Henze and Rogers are all athletes at CrossFit Riverchase.
