COLUMBIANA—Cheryl Naugher was unanimously approved as coordinator of finance and accounting by the Shelby County Board of Education during their May 15 meeting.

Naugher is currently the accounting manager for the Shelby County Commission and has previously worked for the Shelby County Board of Education as a local school auditor.

“I feel like I’m coming back home,” she said, of accepting the position with the school system.

Naugher received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Montevallo and obtained her CPA certification in 1989.

Naugher, who has two children who have graduated from the Shelby County system, said she is “really excited about the opportunity.”

“I’m just so glad to be here,” she said.
