A native of Dijon, France, Micheline Davis met her husband during World War II and subsequently sailed to America in March 1948. Textile employment took them from Magnolia, Miss., to Texas, Louisiana, back to Texas and finally to the Siluria Textile Mills where she worked for 24 years.

After being Ceta trained, Davis was employed for approximately 10 years at the Shelby County Probate Office. Her lovely accent and humble, friendly ways are remembered by many courthouse employees and customers. One of Davis’ proudest moments was becoming an American citizen in 1989.

At First Presbyterian Church of Alabaster, where she is a long time member, Davis is active in CPW, trips with the Joy Club, the Wisdom Sunday School Class and helper on the “cook team” for CYF. The Red Hat Society, Alabaster Senior Citizens Center activities (including trips) are another part of this busy, lovely and active lady’s lifestyle.

Davis finds much joy in her large family of six children, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, her church friends and most of all her love and trust in her savior.

Her 90th birthday party, held on Sunday May 18, was a mix of former mill workers, county employees, church friends, friends from organizations she has been involved in and many friends who have known her through her children, grandchildren and church work. Dozens of pictures, decorations, lovely flowers, delicious food and a running video of the life of Micheline Cadouot Davis from France to present day made for some poignant moments.

The party was an enormous success with lots of laughs, hugs, memories and best wishes.

What a blessing – what a lady!
