SafeHouse of Shelby County will be hosting its first Shelby Show and Go classic car show and festival benefiting Shelby County women and children in crisis Friday, May 30 – Saturday, May 31.

Activities will begin Friday at 4 p.m. in downtown Columbiana with a sock hop and the featured live music of The Thomas Henry Band.

Saturday’s activities will kick off at 9 a.m. at the Alabaster Promenade shopping center with the show and shine. At this time, classic and custom vehicles will be judged, and guests may shop and eat at the various shops and restaurants offered by the Promenade.

At 1 p.m. Saturday, the festival will move to the Hoover Met, where there will be a swap meet and food truck rally. Vendors will sell and show off their varied goods, and winners “of various judging categories” will be announced.

Executive Director Erin Bodden of SafeHouse of Shelby County described the event as an “opportunity to raise awareness for [the] organization” and promote Shelby County as a whole.

“We are hoping to make it annual,” Bodden said.  SafeHouse anticipates a weekend of great family fun.

Founded in 1989, SafeHouse of Shelby County is a non-profit organization that strives to make every Shelby County house a “safe house” by supporting and empowering victims of domestic and sexual violence, as well as providing prevention education to the rest of the community.
