Meet Mew and Peace

The 2014 ASPCA Rachel Ray $100k Challenge has officially kicked off. We are one of only 50 shelters accepted into the challenge. We are trying to save more lives than ever before—1,200 lives saved to be exact. Every adoption we do from now through Aug. 31 counts. If we can save more than the other 49 shelters, we can win the grand prize of $100K to help us continue our life-saving community programs, like our low-cost spay/neuter program, Quick Fix.

Spay/neuter is incredibly important. It will help prevent the numerous accidental litters of puppies and kittens that land at our shelter every spring and summer—puppies and kittens like Peace and Mew who now need your help to find the loving homes they deserve.

Puppies and kittens can be a great choice for families considering adding an additional pet to their home. Your established pets are typically more accepting of young ones. Puppies and kittens also tend to adjust quicker into a new environment. Actually, you the adopter, go through the toughest adjustments as you work through housetraining, chewing, scratching, basic training, etc. It is a lot of work to take on a puppy and kitten and get them to grow into the loving loyal adults you hope for. If you are ready for the time and effort they take, we can certainly help you find your match.

And remember every life saved is the most important win of all. Choose Shelby Humane Society and give life a chance.
