Martha Angelyn “Ann” Byrd (July 7, 1943-June 1, 2014) was called home by the Lord on June 1, 2014. Ann’s family meant everything to her. Her life was devoted to raising her two children and caring for her husband. Ann’s extended family added love and enrichment to her life. Ann was a Christian lady in every sense of the word and an active member of First Baptist Church of Alabaster since 1972 where she taught Sunday School to fifth graders since joining the church. She brought the Word of God to her students thru the crafts she helped them create. She was a gifted and talented person. She was also active with Vacation Bible School at First Baptist. She brightened up everyone’s life she met with her warm smile and caring personality.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Felicia Ann Byrd; and parents, Felix and Dorothy Key.

Ann’s survivors include her husband of 52 years, Ronald Lee Byrd; son, Gunnar Lee Byrd (Patty); her sisters, Sonja Phillips (Fred), Betty Raye McCulley (Robert) and Mary Huddleston; and extended family, Matthew, Stefanie and Paislie Staggs.

There will be a visitation from 1:30-3 p.m. on June 4 at First Baptist Church of Alabaster with the funeral service following. Burial in Elliottsville Cemetery on Highway 119, Alabaster, AL. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the First Baptist Church of Alabaster’s Building Fund.
