Alabaster’s Amstar Cinemas will give kids and those who are young at heart a chance to beat the summer heat while enjoying a range of movies.

The theater recently kicked off its Summer Kids Flicks series, offering an array of family oriented films every Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the summer.

The box office will open every Tuesday and Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. showtime.

Tickets may be purchased on the morning of the show at the box office for $3.50; the cost will include a kid’s box of popcorn and a kid’s soda.

Theater management is encouraging attendees to get to the theater early on show days, as attendance may be high.

“Summer Kids Flicks offers fun films for the whole family at a great price,” Ronald Krueger II, president of Southern Theatres, L.L.C., wrote in a press release. “And we are excited to be entering our seventh year of this film series. The response from the community has been tremendous.”
