Cofield named SCC&C principal

COLUMBIANA—The Shelby County Board of Education named Lawson “Russ” Cofield as the new principal for the Shelby County College and Career Center.

Cofield, who is currently the assistant principal at Shades Valley Technical Academy, has over 14 years of experience in education. He received his bachelor’s degree in secondary education at Auburn University, a master’s degree in educational leadership at the University of Montevallo and an educational specialist degree in educational leadership from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

“I want the Shelby County College and Career Center to be the very best it can be,” Cofield said. “I will work tirelessly to expose students to as many life changing experiences as possible.”
