Ruby Merle Burnette, 86, of Clanton, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Alabaster.

She was born on Sept. 14, 1927, in Alabama, the daughter of the late Dewey Joiner and the late Flora Walton Joiner. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are husband, Vasteen Burnette of Clanton; daughters, Joan Hughes of Columbiana, Sheila Jones of Clanton; sisters, Della Hughes of Columbiana and Lois Queen of Columbiana; brothers, Ronnie Joiner of Columbiana, Bobby Joiner of Columbiana, Gene Joiner of Columbiana and Solon Joiner of Columbiana; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Leon Moore; and grandson, Larry Bryan Bentley.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. on June 6 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held June 7 at 1 p.m. at New Salem with Rev. Larry Reeser officiating. Interment will follow in New Salem, Clanton.
