PELHAM – The city of Pelham and the Pelham Beautification Board look forward to hosting the City of Pelham’s Golden Jubilee July 11-12 at the Pelham Civic Complex and Ice Arena.

“Our community event last year was so well received by our residents that we couldn’t wait to make it bigger and better,” said Paula Holly, the executive administrative assistant of Pelham Mayor Gary Waters.

The celebration, which will be attended by Waters and the City Council, will include both musical and non-musical entertainment, free ice-skating in the practice arena and shopping from food and retail vendors who have “something for everyone,” as stated by Holly.

The festival takes off at 5 p.m. Friday, July 11 with the jazz and blues performance of Take 7 Band in the Main Arena.

Food will be accessible Friday in the Main Arena and the Banquet Hall, where a cash bar will also be provided. On Saturday, food will be available in the Main Arena and Concessions.

A youth zone with various games, activities, and shaved ice will be open Saturday, as well as a video game room and a children’s area.

Magic by Kevin, the Stevan Grebel Center for Dance, the Pelham Senior Center Line Dancers and The Warehouse 31 Performers will provide Saturday’s daytime stage entertainment in the Main Arena.

The City of Pelham will break into the cake at 11 a.m. Saturday between performances.

The celebration will conclude 11 p.m. Saturday night after a free concert at the Oak Mountain Amphitheatre, featuring EveryDay but Friday, Vintage Gray, M-80s and Deputy 5.

“The City of Pelham’s upcoming Golden Jubilee is a wonderful opportunity for our community to celebrate our past, our present and our city’s exciting future,” Holly said.

“The city’s Beautification Board could not have planned such an event without the support of Mayor Waters and the city council. I would also like to thank our sponsors, Mobley Development, Coca-Cola, Renasant Bank, Trash Taxi, Margarita Grill, Warrior Tractor, Martin Marietta Materials and The Pelham Reporter for their support,” she said.

The celebration will be open to the public, and admission is free.
