Charles M. Murphy, age 81, of Calera, passed away Friday. Charlie was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Ruby Murphy; step-mother, Mae Murphy; and sister, Patsy Murphy.

His survivors include his wife of 48 years, Marie Murphy; daughter, Cindy M. Glass (Bryan); son, Brian E. Murphy (Peytonne); grandchildren, Jayme Glass, Lauren J. Ferguson and Lesleigh J. Murphy; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

The family will receive friends on June 23 from 6-8 p.m. at Charter Funeral Home. A funeral service is at the Calera Baptist Church on June 24 at 1 p.m. and will be followed by a committal service with honors at the Alabama National Cemetery. Pastors Donald Talley and Stephen Cannon will officiate.
