James Houston Blalock

Wilsonville, Alabama

Jimmy Blalock (Sept. 7, 1943–June 22, 2014), age 70, died Sunday at Shelby Baptist Hospital following complications from surgery. Mr. Blalock was born to Mrs. Ina Farmer Blalock and Mr. Hoyt O. Blalock. Jimmy was raised by his loving aunt and uncle, Mrs. Iva Farmer Moore and Mr. Ocie L. Moore, as one of their children, following the death of Mrs. Blalock.

His son, James Brian Blalock, his wife Marjorie and their son Brian Wesley who live in Newburgh, Indiana survive Jimmy. His long-time companion, Ms. Ann Smith of Wilsonville also survives Jimmy.

Other surviving family include Mrs. Elise Moore of Tarrant; Mrs. Joan Rasco Chandler (Marvin) of Birmingham; Mrs. Lee Ann Williams (Mack) of Tarrant; Ms. Sandra Moore of Tarrant and Mr. Russell Rasco (Dawn) of Columbiana and Mr. John Hoyt Blalock (Kathy) of Chicago, Ill.

His brother, John Lee Moore of Tarrant; his sister, Sara Moore Rasco and her husband Jay C. Rasco of Columbiana; as well as his parents, preceded Jimmy in death.

An avid golfer and fisherman, Jimmy enjoyed spending time with friends and family on the golf course and fishing after taking early retirement from the Alabama Power Company.

Services will be held at The Fourmile Baptist Church, 15577 Highway 61, Wilsonville, Alabama 35186 on June 25. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church with service and burial to follow.

Mr. Justin Smith will conduct the service. Pallbearers: Mr. Mack Williams; Lt. Col. Marvin A. Chandler; Mr. Russell Rasco; Mr. Johnie Gayel Farmer; Mr. Wayne Shaw and Mr. Greg Neal.
