The Alabaster City School System is searching for a new principal at Thompson Intermediate School after the school’s previous principal was promoted to the system’s central office, and will accept applications for the position through July 1.

According to a posting on the school system’s website, ACS leaders began accepting applications for the TIS principal job on June 18, and will continue to accept them through Tuesday, July 1.

TIS, which is on Alabama 119 near its intersection with Thompson Road, serves Alabaster’s fourth- and fifth-graders.

ACS posted the job opening the same day the Alabaster Board of Education voted to hire previous TIS Principal Dr. Ke Jones as the school system’s coordinator of federal programs.

Through her new job, Jones will manage the school system’s federal aid programs – such as Title I – which provide funding based on the number of free- and reduced-price lunch students in several schools.

The school system’s former federal program coordinator, Latanza Harrison, recently took a position as the ACS human resources director.

According to the TIS principal job posting, all candidates must be certified in Alabama for educational leadership or administration and supervision, and must have previous school administration experience.

Letters of interest and resumes may be mailed to Dr. Wayne Vickers, Superintendent, Alabaster City Schools Board of Education 1953 Municipal Way, Suite 200 Alabaster, AL 35007, or emailed to wayne.vickers@alabastercityschools.org.
