Bark in the Park: Dogs take over Aldridge Gardens for tail-wagging good time

Four-legged friends, colorful blooms and dozens of animal lovers filled Aldridge Gardens March 22 for Paws in the Gardens.

After the event was cancelled last year because of rain, attendees were in strong force with their dogs this spring. All sizes, colors and breeds made their way to the garden where they mingled with other dogs and enjoyed tasty treats.

Two of the people who enjoyed this dog day were Amber Norris and her mother, April Wilkerson. They brought their rescued dogs, Amy and Teddy, to the gardens.

“It’s a great event for socialization, especially for shelter dogs,” says Norris, who attended Paws in the Gardens for the first time. Owners paid $10 per dog for admission, and portions of the proceeds went to the Shelby Humane Society…
